Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

General Information

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This unit consists of two areas: 630 with 34 beds and 633 with 25 beds, focusing on delivering high-quality care to patients with various medical needs.

Unit Specifics

  • Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:5 on days, 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
  • Staffing: 3 techs available when full on 630, 2 techs on 633
  • Equipment: Bipaps, high flow oxygen, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis, wound vacs
  • Documentation System: Meditech
  • Scheduling: Every other weekend required; 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
  • Floating Policy: May be required to float between PCU units or to medical-surgical floors
  • Patient Experience: Expected to perform hourly rounding on days and every two hours on nights, familiar with AIDET, and maintain communication boards

Position Requirements

Requested Skill Set

  • Must Have: Critical thinking skills, EKG rhythm interpretation, experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips. Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred. Proficiency in peripheral IV skills.
  • Advanced Skills Needed: ACLS certification, experience with bipaps and various oxygen delivery systems, and care for stroke and post-cardiac catheterization patients. Peritoneal dialysis experience is preferred. Knowledge of tube feedings and NG/Dobhoff tubes is expected.
