Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a fast-paced Clinical Decision Unit. This unit specializes in receiving admitted patients directly from the Emergency Department (ED), performing admission assessments, medication reconciliations, and initiating acute care orders to streamline patient care and enhance throughput.

Unit Specifics

  • Scrub Colors: Navy Blue/White or a combination of both
  • Number of Beds: 40
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5 Step-Down / 1:6 MedSurg, with a 1:5 ratio if combined, for day and night shifts
  • Staffing Description: Goal is a free charge, typically 1-2 CNAs based on volume for both day and night shifts
  • Equipment: Baxter IV pumps
  • Documentation System: Cerner
  • Floating Policy: Expected to float to other units within skill set as needed

Responsibilities

The RN will be responsible for:

  • Providing high-quality patient care in a timely manner
  • Conducting admission assessments and medication reconciliations
  • Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient flow and safe care delivery
  • Being responsive to the varying needs of patients with diverse diagnoses

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in MedSurg, Telemetry, and Step-Down (PCU) level
  • Must possess a positive attitude and focus on teamwork in a fast-paced environment
  • Charge Nurse experience or willingness to consider is appreciated
  • Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Work Schedule

Must be able to work every other weekend and assist with holidays as needed. There is no on-call requirement.

Travel nurses frequently request extensions due to the positive work environment. Additionally, opportunities are available in the CMU Telemetry Unit and as ED Transport Nurses, which help maintain patient safety and support ongoing care in the ED.
