Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position on a night shift schedule, requiring active TN or compact RN license and NIH Stroke Certification.

Details

  • Neuro Med/Surg PCU unit with 20 beds and 6:1 patient ratio
  • Tech support available on day and night shifts, with unit secretary coverage 7a-7p
  • Utilizes IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology
  • Charting completed in Meditech
  • Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Two weekends (4 shifts) required per 4-week schedule
  • Contract labor floats first, based on rotation among scheduled contract staff

Requirements

  • Active RN license (TN or Compact) required
  • BLS certification required
  • NIH Stroke Certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Med/Surg experience required, including ability to prioritize care and multitask
  • Skilled in starting IVs, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, NG tubes, and chest tubes
  • US SSN and DOB required for consideration (Canadian SSN not accepted)
  • One professional reference required (two required for Florida and Missouri candidates)
  • No employment gaps of 90+ days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • Facility is a Comprehensive Stroke Center, ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, and Certified Chest Pain Center
  • Provide attentive, compassionate patient and family-centered care
  • Conduct bedside shift report and involve patients/families in care planning
  • Navy scrub uniform required (tops and bottoms)
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted
