Description

American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN with EPIC experience and 2+ years of progressive care nursing experience for a night shift position requiring an active FL or compact license.

Details

  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting also described as PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week period
  • No on-call requirements
  • Float requirement to other units or facility locations (Cape Canaveral, Holmes Regional, Palm Bay, or Viera) with a home base assigned
  • Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
  • Cardiac telemetry, ER holding, MS/Tele, Neuro Stepdown, and CVA patient populations

Requirements

  • Active FL state or compact RN license required at time of consideration (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required (CPI preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/stepdown experience required
  • EPIC charting system experience required
  • Allscripts charting experience also required
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, central/PICC line management, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
  • Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience with cardiac drip management, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry monitoring
  • Two professional references from a Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director dated within the last year required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for cardiac, telemetry, neuro stepdown, and CVA patients in a progressive care setting
  • Responsibilities may include wound care, IV insulin protocols, pre/post cardiac catheterization care, and sheath removal
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (10/31-3/31) with medical or religious exemptions only
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Former Health First employees or contracted staff must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler
  • No radius restriction applies; local candidates are accepted at the same travel rate
  • All time off requests must be submitted with initial consideration and are reviewed during the interview process
  • Travel pairs may be accommodated with unit leader approval, though matching schedules are not guaranteed
  • Scrubs may be any color but tops and bottoms must match, with no logos or prints permitted
  • Candidates must complete required lab work within 72 hours of signing
  • Orientation includes facility-specific training modules completed annually thereafter
