Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Surgical PCU position requiring telemetry and PCU-level skills with night shift coverage.

Details

• 32-bed Surgical Progressive Care Unit on the 5th floor of the North Tower
• Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Patient ratios of 1:4, occasionally 1:5
• Staffing includes a charge nurse, 2-3 PCTs, and 7 RNs per shift
• Uses equipment such as walkers, kangaroo pumps, PCAs, chest tubes, ostomies, peg tubes, and NG/foley tubes
• Cares for post-surgical patients including airway, bowel, pulmonary, and head/neck surgery cases
• Provides telemetry monitoring and routine care for JP drains, biliary drains, chest tube drains, TPN, and tube feeds
• Uses Meditech EMR
• Floats to Medsurg, Medsurg PCU, and ED holds as needed
• Rotating weekend requirement with no on-call responsibilities
• 13-week contract assignment

Requirements

• Active RN license (TX or compact) required
• BLS and ACLS/ALS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a related specialty required
• PCU experience and trach experience preferred
• Strong time management and critical thinking skills required
• US Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
• No employment gaps of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Deliver collaborative, interdisciplinary care including daily multidisciplinary rounds for day shift
• Focus on patient hygiene, oral care, activity, and communication
• Follow infection prevention protocols for C.diff, CAUTI, CLABSI, and SSI
• Adhere to colorectal care order sets and pre/post-op checklists
• Maintain documentation compliance for admissions and each shift
• Navy blue scrub attire required
• Team-oriented, positive, and adaptable personality fit preferred
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
