Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Telemetry Observation Unit position requiring 2+ years of acute experience and charge nurse experience.

Details

• Mixed unit PCU, Med Surg Tele, and Med Surg within an Observation Unit setting
• Patient ratios of 1:4 on all shifts
• Adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including chest pain, AFib, TIA, GI bleed, CHF, seizure, COPD, UTI, and post-surgical complications
• Approximately 2/3 of patients managed by EDOBS providers with a length of stay goal of 18-24 hours
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating required within service line and between Toledo, Flower, Bay Park, and Wildwood facilities to units including Neuro/Stroke, Cardiac, Orthopedic, Trauma, Oncology, General Surg, and Uro/Vascular
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required
• Prior charge nurse experience required
• Must be familiar with intermediate medication drips (heparin, nitro, cardizem, insulin)
• Epic charting experience required
• Observation medicine experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and Level I trauma experience preferred
• Prior Level 1 or 2 trauma experience preferred for first-time travelers

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry nursing care within a Level I trauma center, the largest acute care hospital in the Toledo metropolitan area
• Manage cardiac drips and perform cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Navy blue scrubs required
• No block scheduling; schedules may change with two-week notice from the facility
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require management approval
• First-time travelers are welcome if they have prior Level 1 or 2 trauma experience
• No local travelers within a 50-mile radius accepted
• Previous staff must have a one-year gap since last employment at the facility to be eligible
