Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a PCU/Oncology unit requiring stepdown or PCU experience and an OH or compact RN license.

Details

• 35-bed medical and radiation oncology unit specializing in oncology and hematology patients
• Mixed acuity unit caring for both Med Surg and Advanced Care patients
• Frequent administration of blood products and chemotherapy
• Other common skills include drips, PCAs, and wound care
• ONS-certified RNs administer chemotherapy on this unit
• Night shift, 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• 36 or 48 hour schedules available, no block scheduling
• Targeted patient ratios of 1:4, up to 1:5-6
• Required to float to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units and may float to other Premier Health campuses within 10-15 miles of Main Campus
• Must work every other weekend and every other holiday
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact license required
• BLS and ACLS certification required, with ability to read and interpret EKG strips
• OCN certification preferred
• 1.5 years of RN experience required
• Stepdown or PCU experience required in work history; ICU experience does not qualify
• Oncology experience required
• Sickle cell experience and chemo certification preferred but not required
• Level I or II trauma center experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Epic experience preferred
• Skilled in interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Skilled in IV therapy, infusions, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment prior to starting the assignment
• Must be fitted for N95 respirator prior to working on the HRRU unit unless PAPR is provided

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to oncology and hematology patients including chemotherapy and blood product administration
• May be assigned to support high-risk respiratory/COVID units when floated
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Maximum of 14 days RTO allowed per contract, must be requested at time of submission with no changes after offer
• Local candidates are not accepted; must reside outside a 50-mile radius
• Previous perm/PRN Premier Health employees or prior agency staff not extended due to tenure must wait 6 months before reapplying as a traveler
