We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for a contract position in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Step Down. This role is perfect for those who thrive in a collaborative and welcoming atmosphere.

Unit Information:

• Beds: 16 bed
• Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years STAC required, 3 preferred
• Experience in stepdown, Tele, or higher level of care beyond MedSurg is required
• Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Chemo, BMT overflow, active chemo/radiation
• Patient Ratios: RN: 1: 4-6 (priority for 4 patients), CNA: 2 CNA’s per shift, 1 clerical during the day

Required Licenses and Certifications:

• BLS, NIHSS
• Chemo certification preferred

Skills Required:

• Ports, PCA, Epidural pump, electrolyte replacement, comfort measures, palliative care, lipids and TPN
• Comfortable taking care of patients ranging from Med Surg to Stepdown level of care

Resources within the Department:

• CNA
• Receptionist
• Charge nurse takes assignment
• Phlebotomy staffing dependent, nursing may be responsible for lab collections
• Vascular access team
• Resource teams: Sepsis and rapid
• Shift coordinator during the day
• RT 24/7
• Hospitalist 24/7 residents
• Specialists 24/7 residents
• Intensivist 24/7
• Remote Telemetry monitoring

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: Cerner
• IV Pump: Plum ICU Medical
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Phillips
• Unit specific equipment: sera steady, Arjo lifts, kangaroo pump, sapphire pump for PCA

Orientation:

• NEO: 24 hours (3 days)
• Unit orientation: 1 12-hour shift at the end of week one, 1 12-hour shift at the start of week two

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: every other weekend
• On call: No
• Holiday Expectations: based on scheduled days from facility; travelers may request off one of the three major holidays, day of only
• Shift times: 7p-7:30a (can clock in at 6:53, must be present for huddle at 7)
