Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Trauma Level 1 PCU Oncology unit requiring at least 1 year of experience and a NE or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the PCU Oncology unit (5 North) of an acute care, Trauma Level 1 hospital
  • 18-bed unit caring for adult oncology PCU and trauma PCU patients
  • Patient ratios of 1:4-1:5 on both day and night shifts
  • 12-hour night shifts, self-scheduling balanced to unit needs
  • Every other weekend required
  • Uses Epic EMR and Alaris IV pumps
  • Lyko lifts available in even-numbered rooms with additional lift equipment on the unit
  • RNs occasionally titrate Insulin and Cardizem drips
  • Common medications/drips include chemotherapy, heparin, Cardizem, and Protonix
  • High-flow respiratory equipment commonly used on the unit
  • Floating to other Med/Surg and PCU units at the same level of care may be required
  • Two days of unit-specific orientation provided

Requirements

  • Active NE state or compact (NLC) RN license required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
  • ONS/ONCC certification preferred but not required
  • Chemotherapy certification preferred but not required
  • Oncology experience preferred; strong PCU experience considered
  • Charge nurse experience not required
  • Driver's license required at time of consideration
  • Artificial nails prohibited in all patient care areas

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care to oncology and trauma PCU patients from diagnosis through remission or end-of-life care
  • Participate in hourly rounding and bedside shift reporting as part of the unit's patient experience focus
  • Work alongside a support team including Nursing Assistants, Charge Nurse, PT/OT, RN Case Manager, Social Worker, Educator, and Dietitian
  • Must pass a pass/fail, open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
  • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, verified via driver's license
  • Candidates may not have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility (including CHI and/or Dignity) within the past year
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
