Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU Float position requiring 1-2 years of telemetry/stepdown experience and both Kansas and Missouri (or compact) RN licensure.

Details

  • Float pool position covering approximately 5 Med/Surg Intermediate/PCU units and other Metro campuses as needed, with no assigned home unit
  • Work settings include MS/Tele, Telemetry, Neuro Stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-7:15)
  • Weekend requirement of 8 shifts within Saint Luke's 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
  • Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Patient population includes heart failure, myocardial infarction, stroke, COPD, pulmonary embolism, bacteremia, cellulitis, hematuria, seizures, and alcohol withdrawal

Requirements

  • Active RN license required, both Kansas and Missouri licenses or compact license must be in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
  • 1-2 years of recent specialty experience required, with a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Charge RN experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred

  • Two professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care across multiple medical-surgical and progressive care units, floating as needed to meet facility staffing needs
  • Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required as needed per unit
  • No block scheduling accommodations available
  • RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days, and must be finalized at time of consideration with no additional requests after submission
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted
  • Previous BJC or Saint Luke's employees must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of tenure, and permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a travel RN
  • Facility may offer the position without an interview
