Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a PCU Float position requiring 2 years of recent telemetry/stepdown experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

  • Float position between IMC and medical/surgical telemetry units within a hospital setting
  • May occasionally take medicine/IMC level boarders in the ED and ICU as needed
  • IMC is a 15-bed unit with a 1:4 patient ratio
  • MedSurg is a 44-bed unit, Telemetry is a 34-bed unit with a 1:5-6 patient ratio on MS/Tele
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (6:45 AM-7:15 PM)
  • Weekend and holiday shifts required per hospital needs
  • Reports to staffing office for float assignment

Requirements

  • Active RN license - Compact or MD license required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
  • Must have completed at least 1 previous travel assignment
  • Experience required in PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Telemetry, ER Holding, Cardiac Telemetry, and MS/Tele
  • Must pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with a minimum 80% overall score and 100% on lethal rhythms
  • Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years
  • Flu vaccine required

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care across IMC, MedSurg, and Telemetry units as part of a float pool
  • Scrubs not provided; required color is Caribbean Blue
  • Local candidates accepted within 60 miles at a lower rate
  • RTO limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
