Description:
Full-time Patient Care Technician in the Emergency Department.
Responsible for performing patient care activities and clerical functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Supports clinical operations of the Emergency Department.
Provides technical assistance and participates in unit and organizational improvement activities.
Accountable for reviewing and completing emergency department records.
Performs phlebotomy, EKGs, patient transport, hygiene care, vital signs, weights, and pulse oximetry.
Assists with procedures as needed.
Inputs radiology, laboratory, and EKG orders accurately and promptly.
Maintains departmental filing systems and manages mail to ensure organized record-keeping.
Monitors and orders supplies, restocks rooms, and maintains cleanliness and organization of utility areas.
Manages communication within the department, including answering phones and conveying messages.
Keeps patients and families informed about care processes and supports patient needs throughout their emergency visit.
Monitors and reports changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff.
Ensures safe patient handling and mobility, including the use of transfer devices and fall prevention measures.
Assists with wound care, splinting, and sterile dressing setup as needed under supervision.
Follows infection prevention and isolation protocols rigorously.
Demonstrates proficiency in prioritizing multiple patients and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to ensure efficient patient flow and continuity of care.
Accurately documents patient care and observations in the medical record according to established policy.
Maintains equipment by cleaning, testing, and promptly reporting malfunctions.
