Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a PACU position requiring 2 years of Phase I/Phase II PACU experience and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

• Level II Trauma Center with Level III NICU, Level III Maternity Center, and Primary Stroke Center designation
• Perianesthesia unit spanning Main PACU (33 pre/post rooms, 10 Phase I bays) and East PACU (33 pre/post rooms, 17 Phase I bays) in the same building
• Averages 60-80 combined patients per day between Main and East PACU
• Cares for inpatient, outpatient, and observation patients across pediatric and adult populations
• Handles general, plastics, urology, GI, bariatrics, GYN, minor vascular, neurosurgery, robotics, ophthalmology, ortho, cardiothoracic, ENT, endovascular, and post-cath/IR/Neuro IR cases
• Patient ratios are 1:3 in pre-op, 1:2 in Phase I, and 1:3 in Phase II
• Works both Phase I and Phase II recovery
• 8-hour evening shift from 1100-1930, 40 hours per week
• Set Monday-Friday schedule with no weekend rotation, on-call, or holiday requirements
• Not permitted to pick up call or weekend shifts
• Regular floating required between Phase I and Phase II Recovery across Main and East PACU
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• CAPA or CPAN certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Phase I/Phase II PACU experience required
• Most recent experience within the last year required
• Experience recovering post-cath, bronch, and IR patients highly preferred
• Must be able to read/interpret cardiac rhythms and manage cardiac drips
• Must be able to provide discharge instructions
• Experience with art lines, TR bands, chest tubes, and CBI required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
• Candidate middle name/initial, date of birth, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide perianesthesia nursing care across pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery settings
• Occasionally may encounter or assist with intubated patients in PACU, though vented/ICU-level patients typically go to ICU post-op
• Support team includes Charge RN, management, CNA/LPN staff, bedside and nursing station telemetry, 24/7 hospitalist and RT coverage, and anesthesiologists/CRNAs
• Orientation includes NEO and 2 8-hour shifts in the department
• Maximum of 4 days RTO will be approved
• Scrubs must be any solid professional color with no logos, graphics, or designs
• Free parking available on-site
• First-time travelers considered only with extensive PACU experience
• Candidates who were previously staff at this facility's PACU will not be accepted
• Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated at least 12 months before becoming eligible
