Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for an evening shift role requiring 2 years of Phase I/Phase II PACU experience and WI or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Level II Trauma Center with Level III NICU, Level III Maternity Center, and Primary Stroke Center designation
  • Work in Main or East PACU units with combined 60-80 patients per day across inpatient, outpatient, and observation cases
  • Care for pediatric and adult patients across general, plastics, urology, GI, bariatrics, GYN, minor vascular, neurosurgery, robotics, ophthalmology, ortho, cardiothoracic, ENT, endovascular, and post-cath/IR/Neuro IR cases
  • Patient ratios: Pre-op 1:3, Phase I 1:2, Phase II 1:3
  • Evening shift, 1100-1930, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday set schedule
  • No weekend rotation, on-call, or holiday requirements
  • Regular floating required between Phase I and Phase II Recovery, and between Main and East PACU

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • CAPA or CPAN certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Phase I/Phase II PACU experience required
  • Experience reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms and managing cardiac drips required
  • Experience with art lines, TR bands, chest tubes, and CBI required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Experience providing discharge instructions in Phase I and Phase II recovery required
  • Experience recovering post-cath, bronch, and IR patients highly preferred
  • Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 of SSN required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Provide perianesthesia nursing care across Phase I and Phase II recovery, managing patients through pre-op, PACU, and discharge
  • Supported by Charge RN, management, CNA/LPN staff, 24/7 hospitalist and RT coverage, and anesthesiologists/CRNAs
  • Bedside and nursing station telemetry available, though no dedicated tele tech
  • Orientation includes NEO and 2 8-hour shifts in the department
  • Scrubs must be any solid professional color with no logos, graphics, or designs
  • Free parking lot available on-site
  • Maximum 4 days of RTO will be approved
  • No radius rules apply and local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • First-time travelers will be considered only with extensive PACU experience
  • Candidates previously employed as staff at this facility's PACU are not eligible
  • Former Advocate Health employees must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for a travel assignment
