Description

American Traveler is hiring a PACU RN for a Level I Trauma Center requiring 2+ years of critical care/PACU experience and MO or compact RN license

Details

  • Level I Trauma Center PACU unit with 38 patient bays, open 24/7
  • Average daily census of 70-90 patients
  • Day shift schedule: 4x10 hour shifts, 12:00-22:30, Monday-Friday
  • No weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements
  • Patient population includes adults, adolescents, and geriatric patients
  • Recovers surgical patients from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant services
  • Does not recover open heart surgery or liver transplant patients
  • Unit has dedicated PCT/transport team support
  • Float requirement limited to PACU or PreOp units only
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • CCRN and TNCC certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
  • ICU/critical care experience required
  • Level I and Level II trauma experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Required skills include dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV starts, IV vasopressor administration, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patients
  • Additional skills include central line care, cardiac monitoring, 12-lead EKG/ECG, pre-op assessment and education, and various surgical specialty experience (cardiac, neuro, thoracic, endo/laparoscopic)
  • Must have facial hair compliant with fit testing standards or be willing to shave

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care-level recovery for a wide range of post-surgical patients requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive medications
  • First-time travelers accepted, provided they have 2 years of Level 1 Critical Care/ICU and PACU experience
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
  • RTO limited to no more than 7 days per contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
  • Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
  • Former permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to this health system as a travel RN
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Magnet-designated, teaching hospital setting
