Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring 2+ years of critical care and PACU experience.

Details

  • 16-week assignment in a Level I Trauma Center PACU unit
  • Unit operates 24/7 with 38 patient bays and an average daily census of 70-90 patients
  • Day shift schedule: 4x10-hour shifts, 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday
  • No weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements
  • Patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatric patients
  • Recovers surgical patients from neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant services
  • Does not recover open heart surgery or liver transplant patients
  • Unit has dedicated PCT/transport team support
  • Floating limited to PACU or PreOp units only
  • EPIC charting system used

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN and TNCC preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU experience in a Level I Trauma Center required
  • Critical care/ICU experience required
  • Level I and Level II Trauma experience required
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Skills required include dysrhythmia recognition/management, blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV starts, IV vasopressor administration, ICP monitoring, and care of ventilated patients
  • Experience with artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive drug administration required
  • Charge experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Recover a wide array of acute post-op surgical patients requiring critical care-level monitoring and interventions
  • Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • First-time travelers accepted, provided they have 2 years of Level I Critical Care/ICU and PACU experience
  • Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
  • RTO limited to no more than 7 days per contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
  • Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before requiring a 3-month break in service
