Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN - PACU for a Level I trauma center setting, requiring 2 years of recent PACU/Preop and ICU experience along with a DC RN license.

Details

  • Level I trauma center hospital setting in the PACU/Preop unit
  • Day shift, 3x 12-hour shifts per week totaling 36 hours weekly
  • Requires working Saturday day shift (7a-730p) 1-2 times per 8-week schedule
  • On-call shifts required for Saturday nights and Sunday day/night shifts, with 2 day and 2 night shifts selected per 8-week period
  • Uses EMR for charting and documentation

Requirements

  • Active RN license in DC required, no pending licenses accepted
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (AHA only)
  • CPAN, TNCC, and CCRN certifications highly desirable
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PACU/Preop experience required
  • Minimum 1-2 years of recent ICU and/or Level I trauma center PACU experience required
  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program required
  • BSN highly desired
  • Surgicenter experience does not meet trauma center complexity requirements
  • Must be able to think critically and work independently
  • Two manager or supervisor references required, verifying experience within the last 12 months, with at least one from the most recent employer

Additional Information

  • Monitor post-operative patients' recovery and consciousness levels from anesthesia and communicate updates to the medical team
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs and observe for anesthesia-related side effects
  • Administer prescribed medications to treat pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms
  • Update patient charts, files, and medical records
  • Educate patients and families on post-surgery care and answer related questions
  • Must reside within 50 miles of the facility
  • First-time travelers may be considered if experience requirements are met
