Travel PACU Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Assignment in Everett, Washington

Travel Nursing Job Details

- Shift Duration: 10-hour day shifts, approximately 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Weekend coverage approximately once every 4 weeks
- Call Requirement: One primary call shift and one secondary call shift during a 4-week schedule period
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 2:1
- Unit Capacity: 29 PACU bays across two floors
- Daily Volume: Approximately 70 operating room, interventional radiology, and cardiovascular lab cases per day
- Documentation: Epic electronic medical record
- Orientation: 24 hours
PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Washington; compact license must be active and in hand at submission when applicable
- At least 1 year of PACU or closely related critical care nursing experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- PALS certification preferred
- Recent experience with Epic charting required
- Experience caring for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
- Level II trauma experience preferred
- Ability to care for patients recovering from general, vascular, orthopedic, robotic, pediatric, cardiovascular, thoracic, neurologic, gastrointestinal, interventional, and other anesthetized or spinal procedures
- Willingness to provide weekend coverage, participate in the call rotation, and float to nearby affiliated units or facilities when needed
- Two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the past three years
PACU RN Responsibilities
- Provide Phase I post-anesthesia care for patients following procedures requiring general anesthesia, monitored anesthesia care, regional anesthesia, or spinal anesthesia
- Perform comprehensive airway assessments and manage oral and nasal airways, ventilated patients, nerve blocks, and post-epidural recovery needs
- Recognize and manage dysrhythmias, hemodynamic changes, pain, nausea, and other post-operative complications
- Administer and monitor emergency medications, IV vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, narcotic and opioid analgesics, and reversal agents
- Care for patients recovering from Watchman procedures, TAVR, electrophysiology cases, cardiovascular lab procedures, and other complex interventions
- Occasionally assist with preoperative preparation of ICU patients
- Maintain patient safety and continuity of care for same-day surgery patients and inpatient admissions
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, respiratory services, IV teams, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Follow ASPAN standards and maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic
- Adapt to staggered start times, changing patient acuity, and the needs of a high-volume PACU environment
