Key Responsibilities

Obtain and record initial patient assessments, establishing care priorities based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized, measurable plans of care consistent with Nursing Standards of Care
Reassess patients systematically to identify trends and changes in condition requiring clinical intervention
Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on interpretation of clinical findings and patient outcomes, modifying the care plan as needed
Participate in patient and family health education and discharge planning, documenting timely and appropriate interventions
Float to other units within surgical services as required; fulfill weekend on-call obligations (2 weekends of 12-hour call shifts per month) and one night call per week

Required Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program
Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state RN license
Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Current ACLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Current PALS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse

Preferred Experience / Skills

Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system
Prior PACU or surgical services nursing experience
National professional nursing certification or advanced nursing education (BSN or MSN)
