Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN for a Level I trauma teaching hospital with 2 years of Pre/Post-op experience and Epic proficiency required.

Details

  • Work in the PACU unit providing PreOp and PACU care
  • Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 8:00am-8:30pm (4x10 shifts from 10a-8:30p also considered)
  • Call requirements including every third-fourth weekend
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Cares for cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients including CABG, AAA repair, TAVR, EVAR, Fem-Pop/Fem-Tib-Peroneal Bypass, angiogram, pulmonary decortication, and ablation cases
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Pre/Post-op experience required
  • PACU experience preferred
  • Level I trauma center and outpatient/ambulatory experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge RN experience preferred
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or formal leadership role (Charge RN acceptable for the second reference); no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide pre-operative assessment, education, and post-operative recovery care for cardiovascular and vascular surgery patients
  • Skills utilized include cardiac monitoring, arterial line management, CVP monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, hemodynamic monitoring, and airway assessment
  • Administers antiarrhythmics, anticoagulants, antihypertensives, emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and narcotics/opioid analgesics
  • Manages central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, and wound vacs as needed
  • Performs pre-op assessments, obtains consents, reviews history and physical, and completes 12-lead EKGs
  • Locals accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this or any Ohio State University hospital location
  • RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract; those far from Ohio will be mailed a fingerprinting packet
