Job Description:
Wilson Medical Center, a 294-bed Joint Commission-accredited hospital in Wilson, North Carolina, is seeking an experienced PACU RN to care for patients recovering from surgery and anesthesia.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor patients during post-anesthesia recovery.
- Assess vital signs and manage patients' recovery after surgery.
- Provide post-operative nursing care according to ASPAN standards.
- Monitor cardiac status and manage IV therapy and oxygen support.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and quality care.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience.
- Previous PACU experience required.
- Current ACLS and PALS certifications required.
- ICU experience preferred.
- Meditech experience preferred.
- Must be willing to work 8-hour and 10-hour shifts as needed.
Shift and Call Requirements:
- Rotating shifts, with start times varying between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
- 36 guaranteed hours per week.
- Call typically once per week and every 3–4 weekends.
- May be asked to assist in other surgical services areas when needed and available.

- Department: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Unit Capacity: 8 beds plus 1 isolation room
- Patient Ratios: Based on ASPAN standards; may be 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1
- Equipment: Cardiac monitors, IV equipment, SCDs, nasal oxygen, Omnicell, and blanket warmers
- EHR: Meditech
- Patient Population: All age groups except neonates
- Floating: Not routinely required
