Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 8-Hour Shifts (mix of 06:00–14:30 and 07:30–16:00) | 4x8 or 5x8 schedule | No call requirement | No weekend requirement

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide pre- and post-operative care across all patient age groups including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Administer and manage discharge instructions, perform medication reconciliation, and obtain operative/procedural consent
  • Start and maintain IVs and perform phlebotomy as required
  • Implement Malignant Hyperthermia Protocol and conduct thorough pain assessment and management
  • Float to other area ambulatory surgery centers as needed on a rare basis
  • Operate in a non-computerized charting environment; complete pre-start modules prior to first day

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of PACU or related RN experience required
  • Active NC RN license or valid Compact nursing license (pending license acceptable for submission)
  • ACLS (ALS), BLS, and PALS certifications required
  • Demonstrated skills in ambulatory/outpatient work setting
  • Proficiency in starting and maintaining IVs
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start
  • Local candidates are welcome to apply

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience in Pedi PACU, Phase I PACU, and/or Phase II Recovery
  • Surgical case experience in ENT (including tonsillectomy), general surgery, and ophthalmology (including cataract extraction and eye trauma)
  • Proficiency with emergency medications, narcotics/opioid analgesics, and reversal agents; airway assessment and placement of oral/nasal airways
  • Familiarity with general, local, and Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC) anesthesia types; experience with pre/post-operative procedures including 12-lead EKG/ECG and follow-up phone calls
