Job Summary
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse - [Location]
This role involves providing specialized care in a 12-bed Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), primarily focusing on the immediate recovery of general surgery and procedural patients receiving general anesthesia and deep sedation. The position includes float responsibilities to perioperative areas for staffing, pre-procedure, and phase II recovery of moderate sedation for interventional radiology, gastrointestinal, and surgical patients.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: California Registered Nurse (CA RN) license, at least 2 years of clinical experience, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications.
- Schedule: 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week, with variable start times between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM, on-call as needed, weekends as needed.
- Responsibilities: Manage recovery for general surgery and procedural patients, assess airway and vital signs, monitor End-Tidal Carbon Dioxide levels, maintain airway management, and provide post-anesthesia care and discharge planning.
- Certifications: Valid AHA or ARC certifications required with up-to-date expiration dates.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in post-anesthesia or acute care settings, including charting experience with Epic.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Level I or Level II Trauma Centers, community hospital background, and skills in advanced airway assessment and management.
