Job Summary:
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse position is available in a Level I Trauma Center. This role involves recovery of post-operative patients, including those requiring invasive monitoring, artificial airways, transfusions, and vasoactive drugs. The position requires experience working in a high-acuity inpatient environment, with a focus on adult, geriatric, and occasional adolescent populations. The work schedule is primarily day shifts with hours totaling 10 hours per shift, and the assignment is scheduled to begin on 10/12/2026 and end on 01/11/2027.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Day shifts, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Two years of experience in a high-acuity inpatient setting, certifications including BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support). Valid license in the state or eligible for licensure, with a minimum work history of two years in relevant settings.
- Preferred Qualifications: Critical care experience, Level I trauma center experience, familiarity with Epic electronic charting system, and experience with invasive monitoring, vasoactive drugs, and complex post-op patient care.
- Additional Information: The unit is open 24/7, consisting of 38 patient bays, and supports recovery from a wide array of surgeries including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant. Night shift staff will need to learn preoperative patient assessments when no patients are available in PACU. Critical care experience is mandatory due to the acuity of patient cases, including those requiring artificial airways, invasive monitoring such as intracranial pressure (ICP), and transfusions. The unit does not recover open-heart surgeries or liver transplants.
