Job Summary:
Critical Care Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurse position available for a facility in a Level I Trauma Center. This role involves providing acute postoperative recovery care for patients including Neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, and other surgical specialties. The shift is scheduled for nights, Fri/Sat/Sun from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a focus on high-acuity inpatient and PACU care, including invasive monitoring, ventilated patients, blood transfusions, and vasoactive medication management.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting 10/12/2026 and ending 01/11/2027.
- Required Qualifications: 2 years of critical care or PACU experience, ACLS, BLS certifications, and experience with Epic charting system.
- Preferred Qualifications: CCRN, trauma level I experience, and previous work in high-acuity inpatient settings.
- Float: Float within scope to PACU or Pre-Operative units may be required.
- Additional Information:
- Night shift nurses are expected to pre-op patients for first cases from 5:30 AM to 7:30 AM, when there are no PACU patients.
- Experience with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia is required.
- The unit is open 24/7, consisting of 38 patient bays, with high acuity care for adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations, excluding open-heart surgeries and liver transplants.
- Critical care experience required due to invasive monitoring, artificial airways, and transfusions.
- License in hand or pending license accepted; no local candidate restrictions with at least 75 miles from the facility.
- No guaranteed hours beyond scheduled shifts.
- Must pass compliance requirements including certifications and labs prior to start.
