Job Summary
PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Nurse [Location] This position involves providing specialized post-operative care for patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring their stability and safety. The role requires critical thinking and independence, with a focus on monitoring patients' recovery, vital signs, and managing post-surgical symptoms.
Job Details
- Certifications: PALS, BLS, and ACLS required; CPAN, TNCC, CCRN are highly desirable.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program; BSN is highly desired.
- Location Requirements: Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility.
- Experience Requirements: Minimum of 2 years experience in ICU and/or Level I trauma center PACU, with recent compliance; surgical center experience is not applicable.
- Schedule: Day shift, 3/12 hour shifts, 36 hours per week. Saturday day shift (7 a.m. 7:30 p.m.) required, with additional on-call shifts on weekends. Candidates select two day and two night shifts within an 8-week schedule.
- Responsibilities: Monitor post-operative patients recovery and consciousness, record vital signs, observe for anesthesia medication side effects, treat symptoms, update medical records, educate patients and families, and communicate recovery status to the medical team.
- Submission Requirements: Apply with proof of current RN license in the state/district and relevant clinical experience.
- Additional Information: On-call shifts include Saturday and weekends; on-call for PACU is Saturday 7 p.m. 7:30 a.m., Sunday 7 a.m. 7:30 p.m., and additional weekend shifts as scheduled.
