Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Ortho float pool position requiring Level 1 Trauma and Epic charting experience on night shift.

Details

  • Float pool position within the Ortho unit, floating to similar units as needed
  • Cares for orthopedic and medical/surgical patient population
  • Utilizes Epic EMR for charting
  • Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week for a total of 36 hours weekly
  • 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
  • Rotating holiday shift coverage required

Requirements

  • Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience required
  • ASN required, BSN preferred
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in orthopedic and medical/surgical patient assessment
  • Experience with traction setup and surgical traction device manipulation
  • Experience managing wound appliances including wound vacs, drains, and pouches
  • Strong wound care and patient education skills

Additional Information

  • Assess ortho and medical/surgical patients each shift and develop individualized plans of care
  • Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
  • Coordinate care with physicians and surgeons for ortho and medical/surgical patients
  • Delegate and monitor interventions performed by HCT staff
  • Set up and manage orthopedic traction and surgical traction devices
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date nursing documentation
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • RTO may not exceed 7 total days within the 13-week contract
  • Candidates with more than 1 year of continuous prior assignment history at this health system are not eligible without a required 6-month break in service
