Medical/Surgical Orthopedic Trauma Nurse

Unit Information

Location: Plano, TX

Unit Type: Ortho Trauma Specialty Medsurge

Number of Beds: 36
Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 8 RNs, 3 CNAs
- Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 8 RNs, 3 CNAs
Patient Ratios: 1:5, with flexibility to 1:6
Equipment: Telemetry
EMR: Meditech

Qualifications

Required Skills:

Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical experience
BLS Certification

Preferred Skills:

Experience with Orthopedic and/or Trauma patients

Typical Procedures and Diagnoses

Care for polytrauma patients
Management of non-surgical cervical fractures cleared by spine team
Orthopedic and trauma patients with downgraded traumatic brain injuries (TBI)
Patients with no more than 3 drains
Management of heparin and protonix drips

Additional Information

Dress Code: Royal Blue Scrubs
Shift Requirements: Be present by 0645/1845 for huddle. Tardiness is subject to hospital policies.
Weekend Commitment: Required to work 4 weekends per month
