Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Orthopedics unit requiring 2+ years of experience and strong total joint replacement expertise.

Details

• Level 1 trauma acute care setting on a 22-bed Ortho/Tele unit
• Patient population includes joint replacements, fractures, and other orthopedic diagnoses
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6 with CNA support at 3 per shift and 1:7-8 CNA ratios
• Telemetry monitoring present on unit, but RNs are not required to read strips
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Charge Nurse coverage provided 24/7
• Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 7p-7:30a
• Rotating weekends required (every other weekend or 2 weekend shifts per schedule)
• Holiday rotation required as needed
• Floating may be required to 7E, 7W, 10W, or 10E
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Respiratory equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow used as needed

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Total Joint Replacement experience required, not limited to fracture care
• Strong orthopedic nursing background required
• Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required, with medical or religious exemption process available

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to orthopedic patients including joint replacement and fracture cases
• Unit and department orientation consists of 1-2 shifts
• Scrub color requirement is royal blue
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to qualify for travel positioning
• Previous permanent employees must have a 2-year break before returning as travelers
• Previous travelers who completed a full year at this facility must wait 2 years before returning
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than 1 cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
