Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Ortho/Med-Surg Inpatient unit, requiring Level 1 Trauma and Epic experience along with an active IL RN license.

Details

  • Inpatient Orthopedic and Medical/Surgical unit in a Level 1 Trauma hospital
  • Cares for ortho and med/surg patient populations
  • Day shift schedule, 7:00AM-7:30PM, 3 days per week (36 hours)
  • 13-week contract assignment
  • Uses Epic EMR for charting
  • Floats to similar units as needed
  • 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
  • Rotating holiday coverage required
  • No on-call requirements

Requirements

  • Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience
  • ASN required, BSN preferred
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in surgical traction device setup and manipulation, wound appliance management, medication management, care transition planning, and delegation

Additional Information

  • Perform admission assessments and develop individualized plans of care for ortho and med/surg patients
  • Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs
  • Coordinate care with physicians and surgeons
  • Delegate and monitor interventions performed by HCT staff
  • Set up and manage orthopedic traction and surgical traction devices
  • Manage wound appliances including wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
  • Contingent workers may not remain on assignment longer than 1 year without a 6-month break in service before returning
