Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Transplant | 13-Week Travel Nursing Contract
Experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) needed for a 13-week transplant travel nursing assignment in Weston, Florida. This on-site travel nurse opportunity supports a teaching hospital’s high-acuity surgical services, including liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant procedures. Weston offers a welcoming South Florida setting with beautiful parks, excellent dining, and convenient access to the greater Miami area.
Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250–$2,370
- Specialty: Operating Room Nursing – Transplant

- Contract Duration: 13 weeks, ending February 1, 2027
- Schedule: Four 10-hour day shifts per week, approximately 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; 40 hours per week
- Call Requirement: One call shift per week and two 12-hour weekend call shifts per month
- Unit: Operating Room with approximately 18 rooms and a daily census of 55–60 cases
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Documentation: Epic
- Orientation: Approximately 40 hours, including required EKG and pharmacology testing
- Additional Information: Travelers must be willing to support a teaching environment and participate in training students and new staff.
Operating Room Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of direct Operating Room Registered Nurse experience with a strong liver transplant and transplant surgery background
- Demonstrated experience with liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant procedures
- Experience placing transplanted organs into the recipient; organ procurement or harvesting experience alone does not meet the requirement
- Proficiency with Misonix and CUSA
- Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Florida; pending license may be considered
- Current ACLS and BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS certification required before the start date
- Working knowledge of Epic preferred
- Strong clinical skills in transplant and general Operating Room procedures, including specimen handling, universal protocol, electrosurgical equipment, laparoscopic procedures, laser safety, and infection control
- Ability to float within scope of practice and collaborate effectively in a high-acuity, multidisciplinary environment
- Two professional references from a direct supervisor, manager, assistant nurse manager, or unit director
Transplant Operating Room RN Responsibilities
- Provide safe, comprehensive perioperative nursing care for complex adult and geriatric surgical patients.
- Support liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplant procedures, including recipient implantation procedures.
- Prepare operating rooms, equipment, instruments, supplies, and specialized technology for scheduled and emergent cases.
- Perform circulating and other Operating Room nursing functions within demonstrated competencies.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention, surgical safety, specimen management, and time-out procedures.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, perfusionists, surgical technologists, and other members of the care team.
- Operate and maintain familiarity with equipment such as Misonix, CUSA, laparoscopic systems, electrosurgical units, and fiber-optic lighting.
- Participate in call coverage, weekend coverage, orientation activities, and education of students and new staff.
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic while maintaining compliance with unit and facility standards.
