Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Kerrville, Texas
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing assignment
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,220–$2,340
- Shift: Day shifts, generally 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Shift Duration: 8 hours
- Schedule: 5 shifts per week; late shifts are mandatory as needed
- Call Requirement: Approximately one weeknight per week and one weekend per month, typically Friday through Sunday
- Floating: May float to a surgery center to provide operating room circulating support based on census and operational needs
- Orientation: 16 hours
- Patient Population: Infants, adolescents, adults, pediatric, and geriatric patients
Operating Room RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure eligible for practice in Texas
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time operating room circulating experience
- Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
- CNOR certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of surgical safety, sterile technique, infection prevention, specimen handling, and perioperative nursing workflow
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Community hospital or broad general operating room experience preferred
- Must be comfortable supporting a wide variety of surgical cases; cardiac, brain, and spine procedures are not performed in this setting
- Travel nursing experience is not required
- Ability to participate in required call coverage and seasonal holiday scheduling
Operating Room Nursing Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary operating room circulator for scheduled surgical procedures
- Coordinate safe, efficient patient care throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases
- Verify patient identity, procedure, consent, surgical site, equipment, implants, and required documentation
- Maintain a safe and sterile environment while enforcing surgical asepsis and infection-control standards
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, nurses, and interdisciplinary support teams
- Support general, orthopedic, gynecologic, vascular, urologic, thoracic, ophthalmic, ENT, pediatric, and other surgical procedures within the department’s scope
- Assist with equipment setup, electrosurgical units, specimen labeling, blood products, surgical counts, and operating room turnover
- Recognize and respond appropriately to emergencies, including malignant hyperthermia, hemorrhage, and changes in patient condition
- Provide circulating coverage at the surgery center when assigned
- Participate in weeknight, weekend, and holiday call coverage as scheduled
