Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with 2+ years of OR experience and an active VA or Compact RN license for a 13-week day shift assignment.

Details

• Operating Room unit in a hospital setting
• Day shift schedule: 4x10-hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM
• On-call requirement of 3-4 call shifts every 6 weeks, 8 hours each
• On-call staff must reside within 30 miles or 30 minutes of the facility
• Floating may be required in rotation with client staff per facility policy and Joint Commission standards
• Uses EPIC OP Time (OR) charting system

Requirements

• Active VA or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required
• Level II Trauma center experience preferred, including trauma, neuro, and ortho spine cases
• Ortho skills preferred
• EPIC experience required; travelers must attend accelerated or 2-day EPIC training class unless previously trained at the facility within the past 6 months

Additional Information

• Facility is smoke and nicotine free
• Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31) unless a qualifying exemption is approved
• Up to 7 hours of non-billable training modules required during orientation, varying by specialty
• Holiday coverage expected during the assignment
• RTO requests should be minimal, ideally avoiding full calendar weeks off, and are approved at manager discretion
• Previous VHC staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
