Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a teaching hospital, requiring CA RN licensure, BSN, and prior travel and charge experience
Details
- Work in the Operating Room department of a teaching hospital setting
- Handles OHNS and craniotomy, OMFS, plastic, dental, combined neurosurgery/OHNS, open and endoscopic surgical cases, and free flap reconstructive procedures
- Additional experience with liver, kidney, and transplant surgery, neuro, spine, vascular cases, and the Da Vinci Xi robotic system
- 1:1 patient ratio
- Day shift schedule with 8-hour shifts, starting at either 7:00am or 11:00am, 5 days per week
- Epic charting system used
- Ability to float to other facilities within the health system, including reassignment within a 75+ mile radius as needed
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required
- BSN required
- AHA BLS certification required
- CNOR and ACLS certifications preferred
- Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience required
- Previous travel assignment experience required
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Scrub and circulate skills required
- Epic charting system experience required
- 2 references from most recent employer required for consideration
Additional Information
- Perform scrub and circulating duties across a wide range of surgical specialties including vascular, gynecology, plastics, neurology, cardiovascular, general surgery, endoscopic, robotics, urology, ENT, bariatrics, transplant, thoracic, and podiatry procedures
- Utilize specialized equipment including cell saver, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Steris systems
- Adhere to professional standards including infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling, universal protocol (time out), and emergency management procedures such as code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia protocols
- Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as traveling candidates
- All requested RTO must be disclosed at time of offer and approved by the manager; no additional RTO requests accepted mid-contract, and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
- Candidates with prior employment at any University of California medical facility or its acquired facilities must disclose this employment history, including dates, units, and manager names, for a rehire eligibility review
- Travel pairs are permitted but generally will not be placed on the same unit; married couples may not work on the same unit
