Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,620–$2,760
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Location: Beaver Dam, Wisconsin
- Start Date: November 16, 2026
- Schedule: 4 shifts per week, 8-hour day shifts
- Shift Hours: 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
- Weekend Coverage: No regularly scheduled weekends; weekend call approximately every fourth weekend
- Holiday Coverage: As needed
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, pediatric patients, and geriatric patients
- Operating Room Setting: Eight-room surgical suite
- Local Candidate Policy: Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the assignment location
Operating Room RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- At least 2 years of recent Operating Room nursing experience, including acute care experience within the last 3 years
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications through the American Heart Association
- Experience with general surgery, cataract procedures, robotic surgery, orthopedics, and gynecology preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience and Cerner charting experience preferred
- Ability to float as needed and adapt to changing surgical-service priorities
- Successful completion of required pre-start testing, including a cardiac rhythm interpretation exam with a passing score of at least 80%
- Strong commitment to barcode-scanning accuracy, patient identification, infection prevention, and surgical safety protocols
Operating Room Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care for patients across the lifespan before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Prepare operating rooms, equipment, supplies, and medications according to procedure-specific requirements
- Support general, gynecologic, orthopedic, ophthalmic, urologic, gastrointestinal, and robotic surgical cases
- Promote safe surgical practice through specimen handling, universal protocol, time-outs, fire safety, infection control, and latex and malignant hyperthermia precautions
- Monitor patients during procedures, including conscious sedation and cardiac monitoring as appropriate
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary support services
- Accurately document perioperative care and maintain high barcode-scanning compliance
- Participate in bedside shift reporting, AIDET communication, hourly rounding, and patient- and family-centered care practices
- Respond effectively to urgent clinical situations and contribute to a calm, organized surgical environment
