Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN for a Level II trauma acute care facility, requiring ACLS/BLS certification and a WI or compact RN license.

Details

  • 13-week travel assignment on a 16-suite OR unit averaging 28 cases per day
  • Acute care Level II trauma facility using the Cerner EMR (transitioning to Epic)
  • Primarily 10-hour day shifts (0700-1730), with approximately one week of 8-hour PM shifts (1500-2330) every 5 weeks
  • Night shift possible after gaining facility experience
  • First contracts scheduled for 8 or 10-hour shifts; 12-hour shifts may be requested on subsequent contracts if staffing allows
  • On-call responsibilities include 1 long call per week (Monday-Thursday) and 1 weekend on-call approximately every 5 weeks (Friday after shift through Monday 0700)
  • Weekend on-call is in addition to weekly call night
  • Call response time is 30 minutes for first call team and 45 minutes for subsequent call teams
  • Floating required to the Outpatient Surgery Center across campus
  • No scrubbing required for RNs; OR techs and charge RN/house supervisor support are always present
  • Unit staffed 24/7/365 with a minimum of one RN and one surgical tech

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license required by start date
  • Current ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant OR RN experience required
  • Must be able to circulate cases across General/GYN/Urology/Peripheral Vascular, Orthopedics, and Neuro/ENT/Oral/Plastics specialties
  • Experience with robotic-assisted surgery (daVinci Xi, MAKO) is beneficial
  • BSN not required for this position
  • 2 professional references required: 1 from a supervisor and 1 from a peer or supervisor

Additional Information

  • Circulate a wide variety of surgical cases including bowel resections, laparoscopic procedures, total joint replacements, spine surgeries, ENT procedures, and c-sections
  • Unit is specialized into four case groupings: Ortho, Neuro/ENT/Oral/Plastics, CV-T/Peripheral Vascular, and General/GYN/Urology/Peripheral Vascular
  • Receive 2-3 days of unit-specific orientation with an educator covering basics and required computer-based training
  • Additional 1-2 weeks of case exposure provided to build familiarity with unit flow
  • Navy blue scrubs provided at no cost via Cintas vending
  • At least 1 holiday coverage required per year
  • Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, with an adjusted pay rate
  • Former Marshfield employees must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
  • First-time travelers may be considered for this position
