Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN for a 13-week travel assignment requiring MD or compact RN license and recent general surgery experience.

Details

  • Operating Room unit in a hospital setting
  • Day shift schedule with a mix of 8-hour (0645-1515 or 1045-1915) and 12-hour (0645-1915) shifts
  • Cerner charting system experience required
  • On-call requirement of up to five 12-hour call shifts per six-week scheduling period, primarily weekends (Saturday 7:00 PM through Monday 7:00 AM) with occasional Tuesday night coverage
  • Weekly orientation held on Mondays

Requirements

  • Active RN license - MD license or compact license required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of general surgery experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience within the last 7 years required
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience required, including at least one completed travel assignment
  • Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience in the previous 3 years

Additional Information

  • Perform surgical case support across specialties including general surgery, vascular, gynecology, orthopedic, neurology, urology, plastics, podiatry, and bariatric procedures
  • Experience with robotic surgical systems such as Da Vinci Xi and Mako Surgical System is a plus
  • Skilled in sterile technique, universal protocol (time out) procedures, specimen handling, and emergency management protocols
  • Scrubs provided
  • Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a lower pay rate
  • No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract
  • Previous MedStar employees must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • Candidates must complete facility-specific training modules within one week of signing their contract
  • Labs and drug screening must be completed within 48 hours of signing
