Travel RN Job Details

  • Call Schedule: One overnight call shift weekly, plus weekend call rotation approximately every seventh weekend

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

  • Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • At least 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience
  • Experience working in a comprehensive operating room with multiple surgical service lines
  • Strong orthopedic surgery experience, including total hip and knee procedures
  • Proficiency with the orthopedic Hana table
  • Experience with cataract procedures and C-section circulating preferred
  • Comfort managing emergency surgical situations
  • Previous travel assignment experience preferred
  • Associate degree or nursing certificate required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Ability to participate in call, holiday coverage, and floating based on census while remaining within clinical competencies
  • COVID-19 vaccination required unless a qualifying medical or religious exemption applies
  • Adaptable, resilient, hardworking, and team-oriented approach

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, high-quality nursing care throughout the perioperative process
  • Circulate for orthopedic, medical-surgical, OB, inpatient, outpatient, and emergency procedures
  • Support a high-volume orthopedic service line, including total hip and knee surgeries
  • Prepare operating rooms, verify equipment and supplies, and promote sterile technique
  • Assist with procedures involving the orthopedic Hana table and cataract surgery
  • Serve as a C-section circulator when assigned
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and other members of the surgical care team
  • Participate in overnight and weekend call coverage to support continuous surgical services
  • Float to appropriate units or nearby facilities when needed and when assignments align with clinical skills
  • Document patient care accurately in Epic and contribute to a positive, professional operating room environment
