Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Registered Nurse license valid in West Virginia or a compact state at the time of submission; temporary or pending licenses are not accepted
• At least 1 year of recent operating room nursing or perioperative RN experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Circulating experience is required; surgical scrub experience is preferred
• Ability to work confidently across multiple surgical service lines, including trauma, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, cataracts, and ENT
• Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, communication, and commitment to perioperative patient safety
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles are not eligible for this travel nursing opportunity

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective nursing care throughout the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of surgical procedures
• Circulate for a diverse caseload in a trauma-capable operating room environment
• Prepare operating rooms, equipment, supplies, and sterile fields according to procedure-specific requirements
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
• Support procedures across cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, cataracts, ENT, and other service lines
• Maintain accurate documentation, uphold infection-prevention standards, and promote patient advocacy and surgical patient safety
• Adapt efficiently to changing surgical schedules, patient needs, and high-acuity trauma cases
