Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Travel Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to provide specialized nursing care throughout the surgical process. The OR RN works closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
Provide preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care.
Assess patients before surgery and verify medical history, allergies, medications, consent, and surgical orders.
Prepare the operating room, equipment, and supplies for scheduled procedures.
Assist with patient positioning and surgical site preparation.
Maintain strict sterile technique and follow infection-control standards.
Serve as a Circulating RN and/or Scrub RN according to facility needs and qualifications.
Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and other supplies.
Assist surgeons and surgical teams during procedures.
Administer medications and monitor patient status throughout the procedure.
Anticipate surgical team needs and ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available.
Monitor patient safety, positioning, skin integrity, and overall condition.
Assist with specimen collection, labeling, and handling.
Respond appropriately to surgical emergencies.
Complete accurate documentation and maintain required surgical records.
Provide postoperative handoff to PACU or other receiving departments.
Participate in room turnover and preparation for subsequent procedures.

Requirements
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of assignment.
Recent Operating Room / Perioperative nursing experience.
Current BLS certification.
ACLS may be required depending on facility and specialty.
Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and sterile technique.
Experience with circulating and/or scrubbing preferred.
Strong understanding of surgical safety protocols and patient positioning.
Excellent assessment, organization, and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operating-room environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
