Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I Trauma acute care hospital, requiring trauma, neuro, vascular, and ortho surgical experience.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting within the Operating Room department
  • 13-week assignment on day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • May occasionally require covering a night shift as needed during the contract
  • Weekend shifts required
  • On-call required, distributed equally among nursing staff every 6 weeks, up to 6-8 shifts per 6-week period including nights, evenings, and weekends
  • Floating required between like units and potentially to nearby sister facilities
  • Variable start times may include 7:00 AM or 9:00 AM
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • OR, Endo, L&D, and PACU scrubs provided
  • Free onsite parking available

Requirements

  • Active CA RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 2-3 years of Operating Room experience required (5 years preferred)
  • Level I Trauma experience required
  • Experience in trauma, neurology, vascular, and orthopedic surgical procedures required
  • BLS certification required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic EMR charting experience required
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Perform circulating and/or scrub RN duties across a wide range of surgical specialties including general surgery, gynecology, urology, ENT, thoracic, plastics, podiatry, orthopedics, and robotic-assisted procedures
  • Experience with equipment such as cell saver, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Da Vinci Xi Surgical System may be utilized
  • Knowledge of emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia required
  • Must be willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
  • Local candidates accepted, though a 50-mile radius rule applies for facility eligibility
  • Candidates may float to sister facilities near the contracted location
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • RTO must be submitted at the time of application
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
