Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring CNOR certification and Level I trauma OR experience at a Magnet acute care hospital.

Details

  • Operating Room unit with 23 rooms
  • Level I trauma center, Magnet-designated acute care hospital
  • Works all service lines except cardiovascular (CV) surgery
  • Day shift, 3x12 hours (6:45 AM-7:15 PM), including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday weekends
  • On-call required approximately once per week
  • Cerner charting system, experience preferred
  • Rare floating within skill set may be required

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license in hand or in application process required
  • BLS certification required; CNOR and CST certifications preferred
  • AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
  • Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience required
  • General OR and Level I trauma experience required
  • Bariatric laparoscopic-assisted case experience required
  • General surgery case experience required, including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic-assisted procedures, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, and Whipple procedure
  • Neurology case experience required, including cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, and lumbar fusion
  • Orthopedic case experience required, including arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, and open/closed fracture reductions
  • Plastic surgery experience required with free flap/microvascular procedures
  • Transplant/organ donation experience required
  • Urology case experience required, including cystoscopy, nephrectomy, and prostatectomy
  • Trauma case experience required, including amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, and multi-injury MVA cases
  • Emergency management skills required, including code response, fire safety, latex allergy protocols, and malignant hyperthermia management
  • Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables required
  • Professional skills required in blood product administration, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling, Universal Protocol time-out procedures, and urinary catheterization
  • Previous travel nursing experience required
  • Prior charge experience preferred (2.5 years)
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Scrubs provided for this role
  • Free parking available with permit obtained during orientation
  • Floating required for all travelers, potentially within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this role
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Up to 5 non-holiday RTO days may be auto-approved; additional RTO requires facility manager approval
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • Travel pairs are not accepted for this position
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
  • Day one of the assignment consists of virtual, at-home orientation with required module completion by 4:00 PM CST
