Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with a compact RN license or PA license in hand, EPIC experience, and general OR/trauma capabilities for a 13-week assignment.
Details
- Operating Room setting within a general OR, ambulatory OR, and trauma environment
- 5x8-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- On-call required with a 30-minute response time
- Weekends, holidays, and floating required as needed
- May care for COVID-positive patients
- Wide range of surgical specialties supported including general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, neurology, vascular, thoracic, bariatrics, ENT, and robotic-assisted procedures
- Uses electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and robotic surgical systems such as the Da Vinci Xi
Requirements
- Active compact RN license or PA license in hand required
- Minimum 2 years of recent OR experience required
- BLS certification required (AHA or ARC only)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Experience with universal protocol (time out) procedures, specimen handling/labeling, and infection control required
- Familiarity with emergency management protocols including code response, fire safety, and malignant hyperthermia
- Ability to perform urinary bladder catheterization and administer blood/blood products
Additional Information
- Provide perioperative nursing care across a broad range of surgical specialties and procedures
- Work in a tobacco and fragrance-free facility
- Expected to work 2 of the 3 major holiday periods (Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year's Eve/New Year's Day), or 1 of 2 if the contract spans only two
- RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days per contract
- Must reside within a 50-mile radius to qualify for the standard bill rate, with a lower rate offered to local candidates within this radius
- Travel pairs accepted, though matched schedules cannot be guaranteed
- Candidates undergo a clinical pre-screen before manager interview
- Required to complete and pass an EKG competency exam within 72 hours of signing the contract, where applicable
