Operating Room Nurse (RN)

Job Duties:

The Operating Room (OR) Nurse will provide comprehensive care for a diverse patient population across various surgical specialties. The scope of care includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Orthopedics
  • General Surgery
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Urology
  • Cardiac Surgery
  • Neurosurgery
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Ophthalmic Surgery
  • Gynecology (GYN)
  • Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT)
  • Thoracic Surgery
  • Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Trauma Surgery (Level 1 Trauma Center)

The role requires proficiency in both scrubbing and circulating duties, collaborating closely with the surgical team to facilitate optimal patient outcomes. Experience with advanced technologies, including the use of Da Vinci surgical robots, is advantageous.

Job Requirements:

  • Active RN License in New York State
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an operating room within a Level 1 trauma setting
  • Adequate proficiency in both scrub and circulating roles
  • Telemetry experience is highly desired

Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association is required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification is preferred

Preferred Surgical Experience:

  • Specialty cases including transplants, plastics, and reconstructive surgeries
  • Craniotomy and neurosurgical procedures
  • Strong background in orthopedic surgeries

This position requires flexibility for rotating shifts, on-call/callback obligations, as well as working holidays and weekends as needed based on unit demands.
