Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for a 13-week outpatient surgical services assignment requiring 2+ years of OR experience and an active VA or compact RN license.

Details

• Outpatient Pavilion setting within Surgical Services
• Handles a variety of case types including General, GYN, Breast/Plastics, Urology, Ortho, Podiatry, and Eyes
• Unit has 6 operating rooms with an average daily census of 35
• Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• No weekends or holidays required for scheduled shifts
• Late stay sign-up required as part of call coverage
• On-call required for select areas such as OT, IR, and Cath Lab with a 30-mile/30-minute response requirement
• Floating may be required in rotation with client staff per hospital policy
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; ACLS and CNOR preferred
• Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience required
• Proficiency across multiple surgical specialties including ortho, breast/plastics, urology, GYN, and general surgery preferred
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• 1:1 patient ratio experience

Additional Information

• Provide scrub and circulating support across a wide range of surgical specialties and procedures
• Complete up to 7 hours of non-billable orientation modules based on specialty during onboarding
• Flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• Facility is smoke and nicotine free
• First-time travelers considered as long as candidate has at least 2 years of prior OR RN experience
• Previous VHC staff members must wait one year before returning as a traveler
• RTO requests should be minimal and submitted upfront, with approval at manager discretion
• Some holiday coverage should be expected
