Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

Location: Miami, FL

Unit: Operating Room

Number of Beds: 29 beds

Staffing: Varies with volume, includes 1 Charge RN, 2-3 Registered Nurses, 2 Technicians, and a Clinical Coordinator.

General Information

• Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 2-3 RNs, 2 Technicians, Clinical Coordinator
• Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 2-3 RNs, 2 Technicians, Clinical Coordinator
• Patient Ratios: 3:1
• Type of equipment utilized: X-rays, preoperative tools, anesthesiology equipment, lab equipment, electrocardiography, EKG
• Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Meditech

Responsibilities

As an Operating Room Registered Nurse, the role entails:

• Observation, assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care for all patients.
• Participation in a variety of surgical procedures, including but not limited to joint replacements, ENT, orthopedics, spine, urology, vascular, podiatry, thoracic, and plastic surgeries.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Certification: ACLS, BLS
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of current experience in an acute operating room setting, with specific experience in orthopedic, spine, and joint replacement procedures.
• Preferred Certifications: PALS, CNOR, and any charge experience are advantageous.

Dress Code

Required attire includes:

• Scrub Color: Navy blue or royal blue. Surgical type scrubs are not acceptable.

Unit Policies and Guidelines

• Ability to scrub and assist in all service lines is expected.
• Weekend rotation may be required.
• On-call requirements include two weeknight and two weekend calls (24-hour shifts), as well as one holiday call (if applicable during the four-week period).
