Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Charleston, West Virginia

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010
- Location: Charleston, West Virginia
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 29, 2026
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts, generally 6:45 a.m.–7:15 p.m.
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Call: Approximately 1 call day per week, including 1–2 weekend call assignments during a 4–5 week schedule; a 30-minute response time is required while on call
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Average Surgical Volume: Approximately 22 cases per day
- Charting: Cerner
- Orientation: 16 hours, scheduled before the assignment begins

Operating Room RN Job Requirements
- Active West Virginia or Compact Registered Nurse license; a pending license may be considered for submission
- At least 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
- At least 1 year of recent Operating Room or perioperative nursing experience
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- Recent cardiovascular and general surgery experience is required
- Demonstrated proficiency in both circulating and scrubbing roles
- Strong experience with cardiac, vascular, thoracic, robotic, orthopedic, general, ENT, urology, and gynecologic procedures
- Proficiency with vein harvesting and radial artery harvesting
- Ability to participate in weekday, weekend, holiday, and overnight call coverage as scheduled
- Minimum of two manager or charge nurse references from the past two years
- Flu vaccination is required during flu season unless a documented medical exemption is provided
- Must meet applicable travel distance and assignment eligibility requirements
Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide safe, efficient perioperative nursing care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Circulate and scrub for complex surgical procedures in a fast-paced Operating Room environment
- Support cardiac and vascular procedures, including CABG, valve replacement, MAZE procedures, aortic repairs, bypass grafts, carotid procedures, embolectomies, and cases involving ventricular assist devices
- Participate in general, colorectal, orthopedic, ENT, urologic, robotic, and gynecologic surgeries
- Prepare operating rooms, instruments, supplies, equipment, and surgical team members for assigned procedures
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and follow perioperative safety standards
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Complete accurate documentation in Cerner and support medication and supply management processes
- Respond promptly to emergency cases and call-back assignments while meeting the required response time
- Promote excellent patient outcomes through attentive monitoring, advocacy, communication, and compassionate care
