Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Main Operating Room weekend day position requiring Level 1 or 2 Trauma experience and both scrub and circulator skills.

Details

  • Main Operating Room setting within a Level 1 Trauma & Burn Center
  • Assists Vascular Surgeon in OR and Hybrid Imaging suite
  • Works alongside a team of nurses and surgical techs on Endo and Open cases
  • Unit covers Main OR (22 beds), ASC (8 beds), and Ortho (10 beds)
  • Patient population ranges from outpatient to critical care inpatient
  • Patient ratio of 1:1
  • Uses various OR equipment including the DaVinci robotic system
  • EPIC EMR used
  • Weekend Day shifts, Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon, 3x12s, 0700-1900
  • Call required on any scheduled day, averaging 5 or fewer calls per 8 weeks
  • Floating required as needed by facility

Requirements

  • Active RN license eligible for or currently licensed in Missouri (Compact accepted)
  • BLS certification from AHA required
  • Minimum 2 years of Level 1 or 2 Trauma experience required (teaching hospital experience considered)
  • Scrub and OR Circulator experience required
  • No gaps in employment exceeding 90 days within the past 12 months

Additional Information

  • Provides direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Coordinates patient care activities with ancillary departments to optimize comfort and outcomes
  • Maintains patient rights and confidentiality in accordance with facility standards
  • Requires strong communication and human relations skills along with demonstrated clinical expertise
  • Physical demands include standing and walking most of the shift, pushing/pulling/gripping up to 50 lbs, and minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Black scrub color required; jeans and unprofessional attire not permitted
  • Flu vaccination or Mercy-approved exemption required for all travelers from November 1 to April 1, with no declinations accepted
  • Up to 5 days of requested time off allowed, must be made up during the assignment
  • Local candidates accepted within 50 miles, subject to reduced bill rate
  • Local candidates within 50 miles limited to 3 consecutive 13-week contracts before requiring a 1-year separation or reassignment outside the radius
