Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for a Level I trauma academic medical center, requiring an active SC or compact RN license and strong scrub experience.

Details

• Work in the Main Operating Room of a Level I academic trauma center featuring 21 OR suites
• Surgical specialties include Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics
• Nursing team is comprised of 75% RNs and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists, with RNs trained to scrub and circulate
• Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts from 6:30pm-7:00am
• No on-call requirements
• Required to work up to one weekend shift every 4 weeks
• Required to work at least one holiday period (Christmas or New Year's)
• Floating required within scope to like units or sister facilities
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active SC or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Radiation badge required (provided by agency)
• 2 years of OR experience strongly preferred
• Scrub experience strongly preferred
• Level I trauma center experience preferred
• Driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Perform scrub and circulating duties across a wide range of surgical specialties in a Magnet-designated, nurse-driven department
• Facility is a Level I Trauma Center, teaching hospital, and Magnet-designated with 820 staffed beds
• Scrubs are provided
• First-time travelers may be accepted depending on the position
• Local candidates accepted on a case-by-case basis within a 60-mile radius, though non-local candidates are prioritized
• Previous MUSC permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Block scheduling may be requested but requires manager approval and is not guaranteed
• During hurricane season (June through November, peaking in August and September), all staff including contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams
