  • Schedule: 4 shifts per week; 10-hour day shifts
  • Typical Shift: 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with variable start times between approximately 6:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. based on scheduled cases
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Call: Approximately 1–2 call shifts per week, generally from the end of the scheduled shift through 7:00 a.m. the following day
  • Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Occasional weekend call and holiday call; no scheduled holiday shifts
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Orientation: 8 hours

Operating Room Registered Nurse Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan
  • Minimum of 2 years of operating room nursing experience
  • Strong circulating experience in the operating room
  • Pre-operative and post-operative nursing experience required
  • PACU experience preferred
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current ACLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate degree in nursing or nursing certificate required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to changing case needs, and collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative teams

Travel OR Nurse Responsibilities

  • Circulate a diverse range of surgical and procedural cases in the operating room and endoscopy setting
  • Float to pre-op, PACU, endoscopy, and other assigned perioperative areas as needed
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care from surgical admission through recovery and unit discharge during call assignments
  • Support orthopedic cases, including total knee, hip, and shoulder procedures, ORIFs, hip fracture repairs, and incision and drainage procedures
  • Participate in general surgery cases such as laparoscopic appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, lesion removal, lumpectomy, and hemorrhoidectomy
  • Support OB/GYN, ophthalmology, podiatry, and endoscopy procedures, including hysterectomy, hysteroscopy, laparoscopic salpingectomy, cataract removal, bunionectomy, EGD, and colonoscopy
  • Complete accurate Epic documentation and maintain compliance with perioperative nursing and patient safety standards
  • Prepare equipment, supplies, and operating rooms while promoting safe, efficient patient care
  • Demonstrate resilience, professionalism, strong communication, and a positive approach to change
